Tell us why you became a teacher

In short, I became a teacher because I thought of all the places I LOVE to be, and the school setting is by far one of the most positive, transformative places I can imagine. My main goal in life is to make this world a better place than when I came into it, and to help others as much as possible. Being a teacher fits the bill for that! (lol). I want to not only teach kids "academic" content, but also want to help teach them "life skills" that they need to be productive members of society.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

To be honest, every...single...day in the classroom is a memorable experience for me, and that's why I don't like....I LOVE what I do. Whether it's helping a student become more confident in their math or reading capabilities, or just being able to be a positive male role model in their lives, each time I show up to school, I feel blessed to be in the career I am. Being a 3rd grade teacher is a pivotal time in a child's life, where they are "impressionable" - I hope to make a positive impact.

What would you do with the $25,000?

To me, money is definitely nice to have (lol), but I'm more about "life experiences", and being able to help others along my path in life. I feel like I make enough money to be able to go after the goals/dreams I have set for myself, and fulfill the purpose God put me on this earth to achieve. I would donate the $25,000 between two areas. One would be The Food Bank For Central and Northeast Missouri, and Family Life Fellowship (my church).
