No two days are the same. Kids are funny, perceptive and have more wisdom than we give them credit for--it's a joy to go to work every day!

Tell us why you became a teacher

Since I was 5 years old, I've wanted to be a teacher. Schools are filled with such positivity and potential, and being a part of that is something I've always felt called to. Aside from how much fun it is just working with kids every day, as educators, we have a real opportunity to help them recognize their potential and value in a world that, for some students, makes it difficult to see. Being a difference maker in a child's life is magic, and for me, it's all I've ever wanted.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a student who was labeled as a "problem". His reputation preceded him: teachers did not like him, he did not like teachers and he did not like school. Despite this, he started with a clean slate and he and I developed a rapport I dont think he'd ever had with another teacher. He stayed awake in class, attempted classwork and even raised his hand occasionally to answer a question. He solidified my belief that all students want to feel success and just need a kind adult who believes in them.
