Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher for two reasons. First, I loved school as a child and always found happiness there. I loved all my teachers and wanted to do for others what they did for me! I strive each day to be a positive and supportive role model for my students, and to build a loving and safe classroom for them to learn their best every day. Second, one of my greatest role models in my life, my auntie Kathy was a teacher and I looked up to her so much and still do to this day!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience is really a repeating experience and something I do each year. Every April I incubate chicken eggs in my classroom and we spend 21 days learning all about the life cycle of chickens and the embryos development day by day. It builds great anticipation for hatch day and it's the best day of the year! The excitement and fascination that the kids experience is exactly why I do this job!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000 I would put it toward college tuition for my daughters. I cannot think of a better way to use this money than to put it toward education!
