Tell us why you became a teacher

Both of my grandparents on my dad’s side were educators, as were several of my family members. I was always excited to help out when it came to organizing classrooms or helping with their classroom libraries. When I was a little kid, I played school instead of dolls, where I was the teacher. I started as a history major, but changed to education because deep down, it’s what I always wanted to do.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moment is every year when I teach energy transformations. I pull out a secret talent, and show my students that juggling is just energy transformations in motion! Granted, I’m no good at juggling, but they understand and remember it!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, I would save most of it. I obviously spend a good deal of money on my classroom and students every year, but since paying off my student loans, I’m trying to save for retirement. I would also take a trip overseas!
