Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because the impact of my father. Watching him build relationships, that exceed the classroom, encouraged me to pursue this career. I’ve always been drawn to teaching kids how to embrace learning in unique ways. I have seen how fostering creativity and curiosity in the classroom leads to building better character and achieving any goal.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Transforming my classroom has been my most memorable teaching experience! My students were immersed in an interactive medical lab. They wore gowns and gloves while review ELA content! Watching them work together that day is something I’ll never forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use $25,000 to purchase new furniture and resources for my students. I would use it to save up to eventually purchase a home. As a teacher, it’s hard to imagine being able to buy a home in this economy. This would be a huge step in that direction.
