Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. My students are the future and I want to help prepare them to be strong leaders. I believe that each and every student can be successful and I want to help them be successful. Each day I know that I am helping to shape students to be better scholars and people. Being a teacher allows me the opportunity to make a difference that will last beyond my classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was when my first grade class hatched chicks. This was a multi week project, with students journaling and keeping updates of the process. Each day we watched our eggs in the incubator and counted down to hatch day. When the day came we watched as small cracks formed in the eggs. The next morning students came in and saw that their chicks had hatched! It was an exciting moment that I will never forget. It was a very memorable day for both me and my students.

What would you do with the $25,000?

$25,000 would go a long way in helping me provide amazing experiences for my students. This money would also help me be able to decorate my classroom for many years to come. Being a teacher often means spending my own money to be able to create a classroom and projects for my students. Having $25,000 would help relieve the burden of extras for my classroom for many years to come.
