As a third-generation educator, I grew up witnessing the profound impact that teachers can have on their students. From an early age, I saw how education could shape lives, inspire dreams, and open doors to new opportunities. This deep-rooted passion for helping other people of all ages learn and grow is what ultimately led me to become a teacher. I believe that education is the foundation for success, and I wanted to be part of that journey for my students and community.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One defining moment that solidified my decision happened when we met a group of students with my mom in a mall. I knew that group of students had nearly given up on themselves in school but with patience, encouragement, and creative teaching strategies of my mom, I had watched them go from frustrated to confident students. when they proudly shared that they have careers now, I realized the power of education and my goal—not just as a tool for knowledge but as a way to empower and uplift others.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d invest in education for my professional growth, student learning, community initiatives, personal health and enrichment. I will use funds towards self-care which I ignore most (triumphed over illness) but is essential. Also, I like travel to enhance knowledge or a creative pursuit. I love to attend conferences, upgrade classroom technology and use funds for hands-on learning. This balance would bring meaningful opportunities for students and the community along with my personal wellbeing.
