Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to deliver kindness, spread, love, and foster dreams! While my aspirations once arranged from sports broadcasting to nursing, nothing compared to the joy of teaching. My true calling emerged in college when I mentored young Cub Scouts who needed guidance. Teaching is more than a job – it is a privilege to uplift students, help them feel valued, and inspire their ambitions. A simple act of encouragement can change a life, and I will continue doing that one child at a time.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when an autistic student realized the power of his voice. He wrote a letter to a hot-dog company, and to his amazement, they responded with a personalized message of encouragement. This simple exchange was life-changing for a 3rd grade boy who struggled with writing and self- expression. Seeing his confidence grow, through the power of communication, was a profound reminder of why I teach – to help students find their voices and believe in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would donate 10% to our schools MITE BOX to support local families, invest 20% in my two foster children’s college education, and use the rest for a magical Disney vacation. Over the years, we have brought eight students to fulfill their Disney dreams, and now want our foster daughter to have her own princess experience. This trip would make her dreams come true while creating lifelong memories for my family.
