Tell us why you became a teacher

Since I was a little girl, I saw how much so many of my teachers loved their job and the kids they were teaching. They had such drive and passion! I wanted to experience that! As an adult looking back, I realized how much my teachers put into my learning and my needs. They went above and beyond the classroom for not just me but so many others throughout their career. The impact they had on my life, I wanted to make that same impact on more children. So I became a teacher!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a student 2 years ago that had just moved here from out of state. This student and his mom had been living in a sober living home. The family was quickly growing with more kids and had many needs including, school clothes, supplies, food, resources for counseling, free/reduced lunch, church home, etc. Through reaching out to my community and friends, we were able to gather all of these things! This same student grew leaps and bounds academically and socially!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my daughter to Disney World so she could experience the magic! The rest I would invest into my daughter college fund. My prayer is that she finds what her passion is and doesn’t stop until she reaches it.
