Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my passion has always been helping others. I originally started my journey to become a nurse, when I realized that volunteering as an EMT since I was 16 was enough medical for me and I would rather venture into the eduction field! I am able to fulfill different types of needs day in and day out.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was after a hard day with a student who is limited in his expressive language, he utilized maladaptive behaviors such as hitting, biting, kicking and throwing things. We worked through the behavior all morning, after lunch, he came to me, gave me a hug and said “I sorry”. He knew I was there to support him through his tough times and not react to his aggressive behaviors.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000 I would pay off my remaining debt, donate to a school to pay off student lunch accounts, invest some for my future and take some toward a little self care and take a small vacation.
