I became a teacher to inspire a love for learning, as I am a lifelong learner myself. As someone who once struggled with math, I find joy in helping students overcome misconceptions and challenges. I teach Math and Science, with a special passion for empowering young girls to embrace STEM and see their potential in these fields. Witnessing their growth is what motivates me every day.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a student who initially had a strong dislike for math, even writing "M-ental A-buse T-oward H-umans" on every paper. I continuously reinforced a Growth Mindset in our lessons. One day, she stopped writing it, and when I asked why, she told me that, though she wasn't the best, I inspired her to try her best. That moment showed me the power of fostering perseverance and self-belief in students.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would enhance my Gifted Learner classroom by providing resources that foster creativity and critical thinking. I’d invest in advanced learning tools, STEM kits, and hands-on projects that allow students to explore their interests. Additionally, I’d offer professional development opportunities for myself and my colleagues to better support the diverse needs of gifted students, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
