Learn MoreInspired by my Grandmother Laura Hughes, I began my teaching career sitting behind the same desk in the exact room my grandma used in her 33 year career as an educator. Although she passed long before my career began I felt her presence with me in that school. I was also encouraged to become a teacher by my supervisor in a work study program in college. My goal is to encourage children to believe in themselves and embrace the thought that anything is possible with confidence and hard work.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience is something that cannot be described in one single event. Over the course of 29 years there have been countless memories made, but the most memorable feeling is when I encounter my former students and witness their successes and growth in life. It is the feeling of love and pride that is the most memorable.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would do something great with the $25,000 starting with a donation to my two favorite non-profit organizations, The Red Bandanna and Citizenship Counts.
