Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference in the world. I want to help students overcome poverty through education and equip them with problem-solving skills using real-world examples. Empowering them with knowledge and practical skills gives them the tools to succeed and create positive change in their lives and communities.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

With a Covid shut down looming, our district selected a few teachers to design a virtual learning experience. Coincidentally, that day was my birthday. Some of my students found out and took it upon themselves to decorate every whiteboard in my classroom with birthday messages. It was a touching reminder of the bond we shared, even during such an uncertain and challenging time. Their kindness and thoughtfulness made a difficult situation a little brighter, and it’s something I’ll never forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The $25,000 would be a blessing for my wife and me. We’d use it to take some much-needed downtime to recharge, allowing us to continue serving our community as teachers. Additionally, I’d invest part of the funds into bringing more enriching experiences to my students, helping motivate them to invest in their education and future. It’s all about taking care of ourselves so we can give our best to those we serve.
