I love teaching because every child deserves to have someone who will guide them and listen to them and teach them at their own pace.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of the love and support I received from my teachers growing up. I had dyslexia and ADHD, as a young child, my teachers were my support team, and never let me slide through the cracks of the public school system as some children do. I have been a public school teacher for 20 years at the same school that I attended growing up.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when one of my students whom was ADHD, had Asperger syndrome and mild autism, passed the state test in Texas, the STAAR. She and I would work no stop learning the strategies and skills need to pass the reading and math test. She passed both!! When we got her results, she was crying, I was crying and so was her parents. It was the proudest moment in my teaching career.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000, to pay off student loans and invest in supplies for my students.
