Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to inspire the next generation, much like the amazing educators who guided me. Seeing the light in a student’s eyes when they grasp a concept or overcome a challenge fuels my passion. I’ve always wanted to make learning accessible and exciting for all students, especially those who need extra support, and to create an environment where curiosity and confidence thrive.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was a student with an IEP successfully presenting a CoSpaces VR project to the class. They created their own version of Jamestown and explained it with pride and confidence. Watching the entire class celebrate their success reminded me of the power of inclusion, differentiated instruction, and the importance of nurturing every child’s strengths.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would expand my classroom resources to support differentiated learning through technology, such as VR platforms and adaptive tools. I’d also fund workshops to empower other educators to incorporate innovative teaching methods. On a personal level, I’d ensure my three young children have opportunities for early learning experiences, inspiring the same love for discovery I strive to cultivate in my students.
