Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe in service, discipline, and the power of purpose—values deeply ingrained in the military. Just as the military molds individuals into leaders through training and mentorship, I saw the classroom as my battlefield for shaping the next generation. Education is more than just imparting knowledge; it’s about instilling resilience, integrity, and a commitment to something greater than oneself.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My EAST students played a key role in identifying my cancer through a medical imaging project. While analyzing scans, they noticed anomalies that led to my diagnosis. Instead of fear, we turned it into a learning opportunity. Using 3D printing, they created a model of my tumor, making the fight tangible. This experience reinforced why I teach—education isn't just about learning; it’s about impact. My students didn’t just help find my cancer—they gave me purpose in fighting it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

As a single father, my children’s education is my top priority. If I won $25,000, I would invest in their future—ensuring they have access to quality learning opportunities, technology, and experiences that inspire growth. From college savings to enrichment programs, every dollar would go toward giving them the best start possible. Education is the key to their success, and this support would help me provide them with the tools they need to thrive. Their future is my greatest investment.
