Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a music teacher because I want to contribute to the development of well-rounded, thoughtful, and kind human beings. By fostering a love for music and helping children grow emotionally and socially, I feel that I am equipping them with the tools they need to face the future with confidence and creativity. Being a teacher is a privilege, and I’m deeply committed to the responsibility of helping young minds thrive.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experiences are often in the little moments. My heart remembers the hugs from the kids that caused the most headaches, the smiles and singing from those that were most resistant to music-making, the fifth grade soloist that started kindergarten with selective mutism, the countless “I love you’s.” It’s the smallest moments in the day-to-day routines that make teaching so worthwhile, make every student memorable, and make my career an honor.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the money to support both the growth of my students and the broader school community, focusing on enhancing music education, fostering inclusivity, and strengthening school resources. This would include purchasing needed classroom instruments, donating to our PTA, and paying tuition for my post-Master’s certificate in music for students with special needs.
