I became a teacher because I believe science is essential and exciting when taught with enthusiasm. After teaching college biology for 1.5 years, I realized my ability to connect with young adults would be even more impactful in a high school setting. As a teacher in my 20s, I bring energy, relatability, and a fresh perspective, making science engaging and fun for my students.

My most memorable teaching experience is using interactive games to make learning exciting and fun. One of my favorites is Buzzer Tic-Tac-Toe, where students split into two teams and compete to answer questions. The first team to buzz in correctly places their X or O on the board, adding a fun, competitive twist to exam reviews. Seeing students fully engaged, strategizing, and reinforcing their knowledge in an exciting way makes this game a highlight of my classroom.

If I won $25,000, I’d first pay off my student loans, as my Master’s degree was a major investment. I’d also donate to a suicide prevention organization in memory of my best friend, hoping to support at-risk youth and prevent as many tragedies as possible. With the rest, I’d start a competitive science club at my high school, giving students hands-on STEM experiences and opportunities to compete nationally, inspiring curiosity and innovation to empower the next generation of scientists.
