Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I have always wanted to make a difference in the world. I love working with kids & I want to make a meaningful impact in their lives. Teaching them not just academics but skills to cope with situations in their lives, be confident in who they are & be a good human out in this ever changing, challenging world. I love going to work every day & teaching is my dream job. Making learning fun & providing kids with a safe, loving environment is my top priority!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experiences teaching is with kids who come from a challenging home life. I have had kids come from terrible situations at home. At the beginning of the year, you can see how beaten down they are, their behaviors escalate & a poor young soul who is suffering. Being able to teach them skills they can use throughout their lives to cope with these situations & watching them grow, smile with behaviors improving, has been so memorable and rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to give back to the community & also keep my current living status afloat. I love the school I work at, we have a lot of kids coming from poverty. To stay at this school, I pay a pricey cost to just live! It would enable me to stay at the school I’m at, buy/provide supplies for the kids who come with nothing, buy items for my classroom that my school doesn’t provide and be able to make learning fun/engaging for all students. If I won this money, it would be life changing.
