Tell us why you became a teacher

My little brother and I went through the same school system; I was very prepared for college-AP classes, Drill Team Member, Student Council Vice President, Model UN-the whole shebang. He was stuck in front of Disney Movies after 10th grade, rolled around on the art supply room floor intoxicated most days, and was sent home with extra food and school supplies often. I became a teacher to address the gross inconsistencies between "GT" and "SPED" educational experiences.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Lately, I help big, immature humans to become more socially normed with peers and the society they will have to work in as adults. My most memorable teaching experiences surround these tough kids who need extra social skills instruction.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000 I would go to an SEL course that my current district is unable to pay for, so that I can TRAVEL and also Bring Back some more curriculum for my students-something I can take across the campus on testing days or bring into ISS to impact even more students in our building.
