Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe that working with young minds is the most effective way to create a better future for everyone. Teaching provides the unique opportunity to shape children into thoughtful, compassionate, and responsible citizens who positively contribute to the world. By teaching quality art education, I aim to inspire creativity and use it as a tool to foster a more beautiful and harmonious environment for all.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been working with advanced art competition students. Guiding them from their early grade levels and watching them overcome challenges while mastering skills and techniques has been incredibly rewarding. Together, we showcase stunning masterpieces that achieve success at local, district, and UIL levels. Witnessing their transformation into creative, confident individuals fills me with joy and fuels my passion for teaching every day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The $25,000 will primarily be directed towards supporting my family and home. However, I also want to enhance my classroom environment, which feels like my second home. I believe it’s essential for my students to be surrounded by the beauty of everyday experiences, fostered through the Art Studio Habits of Mind. Since we spend so much time together, creating a space that radiates beauty, creativity, and positivity is deeply important to me and central to nurturing their growth and inspiration.
