In my classroom I hang a class project from the 2nd grade that asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, being a teacher has ALWAYS been my answer. I’ve always wanted to have my own classroom and reach all my career goals, and today, over 17 years into teaching, I still LOVE what I do! While the goal has always been teaching, I also always felt compelled to give back to the community that gave me so much, this is why I teach in the same district that I received my K-12 public education from.

It’s difficult forgetting being laid off from a job you absolutely love due to budget cuts. While there are many proud moments and accolades in my teaching career this hurt more than anything! In 2009 our state experienced the worst budget downfalls and I was victim to it. For 6 months I volunteered with a local teacher at a high school for free just to get my fix of teaching. After six months and going back to school to get a SPED Credential I was hired at this school because of my work ethic.

I would first purchase storage for my classroom as I am in great need of it! Then I would definitely purchase food for my students and celebrate the win! Finally a vacation is definitely called for! My schedule doesn’t permit many days off but I definitely need to get away for a short while.
