I chose to become an art teacher because art has always been my greatest passion. I believe that art serves as a powerful means of expression and communication, allowing individuals to convey their thoughts and emotions in unique ways. Sharing this passion with others is incredibly fulfilling, as I enjoy guiding students in discovering their own creativity and artistic voice. Additionally, I want to create a safe and inspiring environment where students can explore different techniques and style

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Throughout my teaching career, I have had countless memorable experiences, but one that stands out the most is the incredible opportunity I had to take students to France and Italy. This journey was not just a trip; it was a transformative experience that allowed us to engage with history in a profound and meaningful way. Visiting the Vatican was a highlight of our adventure. The sheer scale of the Vatican's artistic treasures is staggering, with over 2 million artworks.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Since the passing of my son Ty in 2010, my journey as an educator has taken on a deeper meaning. Each of my students has become like an adopted child to me, and I cherish the opportunity to nurture their creativity and potential. In honor of Ty, I present art awards to my students each year, celebrating their artistic achievements. The funds I receive, such as the potential $25,000, would allow me to enhance this award. The support I receive will help me continue this important work.
