I become a math teacher, because math is the language of the universe, and I wanted to help others learn to speak it. There’s something magical about taking a problem and breaking it down step by step until the solution emerges. Watching students have those 'aha!' moments is incredibly rewarding. Math teaches us to think logically, solve problems, and find patterns in chaos. I teach to show students not just the beauty of numbers, but the power to open doors to countless opportunities.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when a former student returned to say, "Thank you for believing in me. When you moved me to advanced, it made me believe I could do it. Now I'm going to college to be an engineer!" That moment was incredibly humbling and affirming. Knowing that a small decision to encourage and challenge them sparked their confidence and shaped their future reminded me of the profound impact teaching can have on a student’s life. Moments like that are why I teach!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use it to make a lasting impact on my students and grow as an educator. A significant portion would go toward updating classroom resources to enhance learning opportunities. I’d also establish a small scholarship fund to help students pursue their dreams, especially those with financial barriers. Personally, I’d invest in professional development to bring innovative methods back to the classroom. I might set aside a small amount for personal inspiration, to be the best version of me!
