Being able to think critically as we interact with the products, perspectives and practices of other cultures is an invaluable skill as an American. It’s brings me nothing but joy to facilitate student cultural comparisons and authentic communication with different cultures and languages.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceBeing able to connect students with their peers in other countries to allow them to both practice their interpersonal skills and also to see just how much we have in common within our daily lives has been the best experience. My students truly enjoy interacting with their pen pals.
What would you do with the $25,000?With the money, I would definitely take my family on a vacation. They support me in every facet of my career, from attending conferences on the weekends or completing professional development courses at home to grading coursework and curating authentic resources, my job is constantly taking up time outside of the classroom. Being able to thank them for their patience and support with a vacation as well as pay more bills throughout the year would be an invaluable use of the monetary prize.
