Jennifer Aguilar

I love teaching because it's incredibly rewarding to witness students' growth. Seeing their eyes light up when they grasp a new concept.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher for various reasons: a passion for learning and sharing knowledge, a desire to inspire and guide students, and a love of working with children. I grew up close to my grandmother, who was a teacher for 26 years. I would sometimes go to school with her, and I used to get to see her teaching. That's how I knew that I wanted to be a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I did a science experiment with my 1st grade class called Erupting Apples. The kids learned about mixing vinegar and baking soda to cause a reaction and make it look like it was exploding. They had a blast and were super excited to watch the apple "explode".

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would save most of it and then subscribe to a book club that would provide the kids in my class with books to read.
