Helping students succeed and then be proud of themselves is the ultimate reward. But also, kids are way cooler than most grownups.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This year my class amazes me with their sense of unity and desire to learn science outside. We had tug of war and sledding competitions to experience unbalanced forces and friction. Recently during 3rd grade’s Winter Survival Day, my class showed teamwork to build a dwelling we could have slept in. They wanted to, but I had to say no. It was way too cold! Once back in the classroom, they applied their learning through conversations and written reflections to demonstrate understanding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off my car and put money towards buying a house.
