I love seeing my students experience light bulb moments. I enjoy helping them reach their potential and explore the world around them.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because some of the most influential people in my life growing up were my teachers, especially my elementary and high school science teachers. I love science and I want to help spread scientific knowledge and joy throughout my community. Seeing my students productively struggle and get excited over relevant and interesting science topics is what keeps me going.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was when my students were learning about force and motion and were creating different obstacles and shields in order to protect Earth from an asteroid in their models. My students got very creative with popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and tape in order to protect their Earth. One group even created a flying object (spaceship) to divert the asteroid's path so that it misses Earth completely.
What would you do with the $25,000?Since I am addicted to learning, I would use it to pay off my student loans and likely go back to school to receive my Special Education endorsement and/or my PhD in Instructional Technology. Lastly, as a single mom I'd use the earnings for a college fund for my daughter.
