I became a special education teacher after being a para-educator because it felt great to connect with students, get creative with all their different needs and personalities. It is also a lot of fun collaborating with other team members and families who all have the same goal of creating a safe space for students to thrive and find their strengths.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of the many most memorable moments I remember teaching was when my students at the time were not being mainstreamed in GE classes. I made the connections with teachers, parents, and other staff to advocate for the students to be included in their GE classes as much as they can. And it worked!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would send some money to my family in the Philippines. I would spend the rest for a vacation for the family. It has been a while since we have been on one, and it would be really nice!
