Tell us why you became a teacher

It is something I have always wanted to do. I knew I wanted to be a teacher in high school, but life happens. Teaching is a 2nd career for me I actually went back to school in my mid-40's to finish my schooling and get my teaching license so that I can live out my dream of becoming a teacher. My Teachers have left such a deep impact on how I view the world/life, without the example of my Teachers in my life, I do not know where I would be today. I just want my students to love learning.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was when I realized that I did make an impact on my students! In my first year of teaching, I had a young man who gave me and all the other teachers a run for our money. When it was time for him to graduate from 8th grade, I was ready to see him move on to High school. His senior year of high school, he came back wearing his cap and gown with a big grin he hugged me and thanked me for not giving up on him! I will never forget that or him!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put some of this towards my student loans. I will give to the juvenile diabetes foundation, my little Granddaughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was only 4 years old. I also have some overdue home repairs that need to be completed. Thank you!
