I really teach for the students. As much as I say I love math and teaching math, i love helping my students grow as people and learners.

I started tutoring when the stay-at-home orders got lifted. I was tutoring all subjects, but math was my focus. I’ve always known of the negative feelings that came with math (and STEM in general), so I came in went a gentle approach to math. After making worksheets (from scratch) for my students, students were starting to get their A-ha! moments. Then came students becoming proficient in their foundational skills.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThe most memorable experience I had teaching was when I had my students do a hands-on activity with probability and these cool funky dice. I actually had something else planned (a worksheet activity) but knew we all needed insert a fun activity. After each class was done with the activity, I had a bunch of students thank me for the break from the “work” (but it still was) and even say how much they enjoyed it.
What would you do with the $25,000?First, pay off my student loans. Second, treat some of my coworkers out. Third, treat my friends out. Fourth, but students some snacks. Fifth, buy a laptop. Sixth, go on a vacation with my partner. Seventh, donate money to our PTA so our seniors can get a better deal on their senior trip this year (I taught them last year as a first year teacher).
