Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to empower young learners, especially those from underserved communities, by fostering a love for learning and giving them the tools to succeed. Every child deserves a strong foundation, and I wanted to be the guide who nurtures their potential, builds their confidence, and inspires them to dream big. Seeing the joy in a child’s eyes when they grasp a new concept or feel safe and valued in the classroom makes every challenge worth it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was when a quiet TK student, struggling with English, proudly read their first sentence aloud. Their face lit up with confidence, and the class cheered. It was a reminder of why I teach—to create a space where every child feels seen, capable, and excited to learn. Small victories like these shape a child’s future, and being part of that journey is an honor.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in resources that enrich my TK students’ learning—hands-on materials, diverse books, and play-based tools to foster creativity and language development. I’d also use part of it to create a calming, inclusive space for neurodivergent learners. Additionally, I would pay off student loan debt, allowing me to focus more on my students without financial stress. This investment would empower both my students and my own ability to teach with passion and purpose.
