Tell us why you became a teacher

Teaching is like a party! All types show up. Everyone has something worthy to contribute. Not everyone knows what they can contribute. It is up to the host of the party (teacher), to help party goers identify, accept, and foster their gifts. My dad, as a "host", would say, " Do your best and be happy even if you fail but be honest with yourself!" Whilst in college, I worked with low-socioeconomic students learning that my gifts are best fitted to "host the party!"

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Daniel, a former student, calls whilst I am "hosting a party!" He had moved away from the area near the end of his party time with me. One of his gifts was Art! He had won at the state level, a gold, on his eagle sculpture. Daniel states, "Hey, Mrs. Furgason, this is Daniel calling from Desert Storm!" OF course, I almost popped my party balloon and made him repeat that statement. He called to thank me and I cried humble tears of thankfulness at the party! Party Paused...

What would you do with the $25,000?

Certainly, Buy more party supplies!! Our school is rural and we need supplies and organizing materials! Our party would benefit greatly from a new color printer!! It would be fun to take some of the party on the road to see new robotics in action!! Party preparation is costly and time consuming some money used towards this would be beneficial! IF our party has any leftovers, my party space needs some redefining!
