I love teaching because I love getting to build relationships each year with my students. I value being a part of their journey.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because I realized early on that I enjoyed working with children. I used to babysit all of the time, then in high school I was a part of a program where we would tutor elementary students in the district. I had a passion for working with kids and just felt that teaching was the perfect career for me.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was when I was recognized as an educator redefining teaching during COVID by Instructure (Canvas.) I was nominated by one of my department teachers for helping lead the math department during the pandemic to embrace the changes and challenges of online teaching. This was memorable for me since we were all having to adjust to signicant changes in our normal day to day lives, but also adopt a new way of teaching in order to reach our kids.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I was to win the $25,000 I would put most of it towards my daughter's college education and also use some of it to revamp the way I can do things in my classroom. There are updates to technology and curriculum that this money would allow me the opportunity to implement.
