I became a teacher to impact the lives of our youth in a positive way. Having had a positive male role model as my Biology and English Teachers were for me, I wanted to do the same for those in my classroom.

My most memorable teaching experience was taking twenty-seven eighth graders on a week long canoe trip down the Edisto River. This experience taught students self-reliance, leadership skills and survival skills. This was in addition to some hands science learning about freshwater river ecosystems, forest resources and ecology.

As a teacher both in and out of the class, part of the money would go to purchasing materials so I can continue to teach young people about American Indian Craftwork and beadwork outside of the classroom. Some of the money would go towards paying off debt and savings and the rest would be used to go on a vacation with my wife who has always been supportive of me chasing my dreams and goals.
