Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to positively influence young lives-not only academically but personally.Teaching should bring a love for learning!I never had that as a learner and wanted to provide an enlightening avenue for the children in my rural community to grow a love for knowledge and learning.I strive to promote life-learning and a hunger for knowledge.I work to convey the idea to students that consistently trying to become their best self is a life investment they will not regret!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience I have had isn’t secluded to one specific student or experience. More so, it is seeing the impact my passion has had on the community. Students here know “Mrs.A” loves them and wants the best for them. Year in and year out, I work to put my best foot forward; I am all in. Memorable teaching for me is seeing the investment in the relationship spill over into the students wanting to and learning to love learning.

What would you do with the $25,000?

This money would be a huge impact for the ones that do not always see or understand the “why” of my profession:my family.They know how much I love my job and my students,but they do not understand how I can invest so much of myself and receive so little in return.Financially this would impact us tremendously. This would be an amazing breath of fresh air in a profession that keeps me financially struggling.I have a lot of student debt. This would help my family in profound ways. Thank you.
