I love teaching PE—empowering students to embrace movement, overcome challenges, and discover their inner strength is the greatest reward

I became a teacher to inspire, uplift and empower. Seeing students discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and grow in confidence fuels my passion every day: teaching isn’t just about lessons—it’s about shaping lives, fostering resilience and igniting a love for learning. I strive to create a space where every student feels valued, capable and motivated to reach their full potential. The greatest reward is knowing I’ve made a positive impact on their journey through life.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was receiving a letter from a former student who had moved to another state. For her senior project, she had to write to someone who inspired her, and the first person she thought of was me. She shared how my support in PE class and on the soccer team gave her confidence and motivation. Knowing that I made such a lasting impact on her journey reminded me why I love teaching— it’s not just about sports or fitness, but about empowering students for life.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded the $25,000, I would use part of it to give back to my students by donating to the PE department for new equipment, ensuring they have the best resources to stay active and engaged. The rest I would invest in my retirement.
