Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to show kids learning and challenges can be fun! My goal is to give my students the information they need and allow them to take it from there. How do they learn best? How do they want to share the information they have learned? We all learn differently and I want them to be able to think differently... their way. I love teaching so I try to develop room transformations and lessons that are engaging and limitless.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Once a child wrapped up a hot pad and brought it to me for Christmas. As I opened the wrapped gift, I was listening to the student tell me how important it was that she brought me a gift. I was like a mother to her and she told me what I ment to her at the age of six. The gift was a filthy pot holder with old crusty food still stuck all over it and burn marks. The gift was garbage to many but a treasure to me. I kept this pot holder for almost 15 years after because I wanted to know my WHY!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my family to Disney World to enjoy laughter and the MAGIC. I would also take our family out West to see the glory of nature. Sometimes we need to regroup and see many different sides of togetherness. The rest, I would use in my classroom. I spend more than I would like to admit but I enjoy my school family. Imake sure we have all the tools necessary to teach and learn.
