Becoming a teacher wasn’t part of my plan or childhood dream—I originally wanted to be a paramedic. But I realized that while paramedics save lives in critical moments, teachers shape lives every single day. My path shifted as I discovered a deeper purpose: making a lasting difference beyond emergencies. Teaching became a natural extension of my desire to serve and inspire. Sometimes the path we’re meant to take isn’t the one we imagined—it’s the one that truly fits who we are.

My most memorable teaching moment was guiding 7th graders through a heart dissection. Though nervous at first, they quickly became captivated. One student exclaimed, “It’s like we’re surgeons!” as they explored chambers and valves. Watching their curiosity and confidence grow reminded me how powerful hands-on learning can be in making complex concepts come alive.

With $25,000, I’d create a hands-on STEM lab for students to explore careers in health science, construction, and emergency services. I’d invest in tools, models, and field trips to make learning real and inspiring. A portion would go toward a well-deserved family vacation, giving us time to relax, reconnect, and make lasting memories together. This award would impact both my students’ futures and my family’s joy.
