Tell us why you became a teacher

To make a difference in the life of a child. I had amazing teachers growing up who really made an impact on my life. The connections with these teachers sparked a love in my soul to grow up and do the same thing. It’s my passion even after 35 years! I still love my job and love the fruits of my labor! “If you love your job, you will never work a day in your life”.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when I taught first grade and this little boy struggled with reading. Each day we worked hard on all the strategies that first graders need to learn to read. Turns out, this little boy was a sponge and soaked everything up I taught him. All he needed was the confidence that he could do it. His kindergarten teacher always criticized him & pointed out his faults. He was so beat down, he lost all his confidence. By the EOTY he was thriving.

What would you do with the $25,000?

We have many friends who lost everything in the 2 hurricanes here in FL so I would donate some of the money to them. My parents are elderly and struggle financially so I would give them some help. I would also donate to my church. I also have some bills I would pay.
