Tell us why you became a teacher

I was put on this earth to educate little people! From the time I was a little girl I knew I wanted to teach. Kids can be molded and shaped by the power of a teacher. I choose to provide my students with love, nurture and high expectations in hopes for them to grow and find their passion too! I want to be a light in kids’ lives who may only see darkness.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Got worms😆! My most memorable teaching moment was an earthworm unit. I brought in live worms for the kids to explore. Our youth live a technology driven life and most have never experienced touching a worm. We made observations and learned the parts and habitats of them. We loved them so much, the 30 worms became our class pets for the rest of the year! The kids would bring back items from lunch for their food and gained responsibility in learning how to care for them. It was memorable for all!

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000 I would upgrade my classroom! I teach kindergarten and supplied with chrome-books; however, kids are much more savvy on iPads! Kindergarteners are such little people learning to navigate an entire school day. I would upgrade my flexible seating options and manipulatives to help engage and foster movement outside of a desk. Any leftover funds I would add to my family’s savings. I have five growing boys who love to eat and stay busy!
