Tell us why you became a teacher

Children need people who truly care about them. When children know that you care they will retain the knowledge you are giving them. I want every child I teach to feel safe this way they can and will meet full potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I taught fifth grade and over 85% of the class did not speak English. I was intimidated and worried I would fail. I picked up as many words as I could I used visuals and my students passed with test scores that beat the district in some subjects. It was very emotional to read their letters at the end of the year. I was worried about failing and it all worked out.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to start my own daycare! Children need a strong foundation in learning! Childcare is where it starts! I would also like to start a tutoring/ mentorship program. Children are dealing with more stress and it is hindering their learning. I want to provide a safe space for them to talk and learn.
