Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because it was God's plan for me. When I was in college I wasn't sure what I wanted to study. I prayed for guidance. One day, one of my professors said I would be a great teacher, he was persistent with this. It was a sign. I then took a course that requires you to complete observation hours in a school environment. I immediately knew it was my calling and fell in love with teaching. It's been 26 years since I followed this summons!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Everyday is a memorable experience. When my students are able to finally understand and learn a difficult concept, that makes my day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Everyone knows teachers do not get paid enough. I would use this money to help pay for my sons' studies. My oldest son is in college and wants to be a doctor. My youngest son graduates from High School this June and is going to UWM. He wants to be a Music teacher. As teachers, our children do not qualify for many grants or scholarships making it very difficult to pay for all of their expenses. This money would help me further their education. I would also celebrate this win with my students.
