I grew up in a world of teachers. My mom was a big part of how I entered this world so I consider it fate and hard work. I grew up learning from the best but also experienced how a really great teacher can make all the difference. At my first school, there was a quote posted on the walls, “Love the children first, then teach them.” I have come to witness how much love goes into a great classroom. It’s how classrooms become homes, and schools become like family.

In 2020 I helped open a therapeutic school for students with emotional disabilities. It was here I learned how powerful small daily interactions can be. Sometimes it is hard to recognize, but the day to day accomplishments make all the difference. A student creating a presentation, being hired at their first job, reading a book, or just loving what they are learning. It is the day to day where I can watch teens develop as lifelong learners ready to enter society as adults.
