Tell us why you became a teacher

I became teacher because it is more than just a profession to me—it is a dream fulfilled, not only for myself but also for my father. He always believed in the power of education and dreamed of seeing me in a profession where I could inspire and uplift others. Growing up, I witnessed his deep respect for teachers and how he saw them as beacons of hope and change. His dream became mine, and every time I step into a classroom, I feel a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Being an ALS teacher is one of the most memorable experiences of my life because it allowed me to witness resilience, determination, and hope in its purest form. I met students from all walks of life—jeepney drivers, market vendors, construction workers, young mothers—each with a unique story of struggle and perseverance. I traveled to remote areas, crossed rivers, and walked under the scorching sun just to bring education to those who had long been deprived of it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded a $25,000 prize as a teacher, I would invest in my professional development through training and workshops to enhance my teaching skills. I would also use a portion of the funds to provide educational resources such as books, laptops, and classroom supplies for my students. Additionally, I would create or support a scholarship fund to help financially struggling students continue their education. Lastly, I would allocate some funds for community literacy programs.
