I became a teacher to empower young artists to find their voices, think critically, and express fearlessly. Art is more than technique or grades—it’s a means of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. I strive to create a space where students feel seen, valued, and inspired to push boundaries. Watching them grow in confidence and use their creativity to shape the world around them is the greatest reward, and it’s why I am so passionate about teaching.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable moments as a teacher come when former students reach out after graduation, eager to share their artistic journeys. Whether it's an email with a work in progress seeking feedback or a visit to say my class was where they felt truly themselves, these moments reaffirm why I teach and the the lasting impact of creative expression when nurtured. Knowing I’ve helped foster a space where students feel safe to grow and explore their artistry is the most rewarding part of teaching.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won $25,000, I would invest in furthering my education and deepening my own artistic practice. As an educator, I believe that continuing to grow as an artist allows me to better inspire and guide my students. By exploring new techniques, perspectives, and creative experiences, I can bring fresh ideas into the classroom, enriching their learning environment. This opportunity would not only elevate my own artistry but also enhance the way I empower my students.
