Tell us why you became a teacher

I want to say I became a teacher for a very lofty reason and I do believe my reasons are very lofty, but a bit unique. I became a teacher to provide my students with a mom away from mom. I became a teacher to be the person for every child that would cheer on their successes, support when feeling defeat and most importantly push to their greatest heights! I became a teacher because my students needed to know their teacher was there to stand in front of a bullet, cry & cheer with them!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This is a hard one! My most memorable experiences are each June when our senior class does a walk through right before graduation. Each year, my once little kids are standing in front of me tall and proud. We cry, laugh, take pictures and tell stories. They come to my room, share with my students and we realize how each year our FAMILY grows. They remember, love and use our time to go out into the world!

What would you do with the $25,000?

My own family has struggled significantly with medical issues of one of my children. He is in remission and moving forward. The two of us had to move away from the family for a year. We had no holidays, no family dinners, no college drop offs and for almost 4 years no time together as a family. To start, I would take my children on a vacation so our memories can be of live and happy adventures TOGETHER! Then donations to two families in our town in need & then student loans.
