Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I have a deep passion for working with children and helping them learn. Seeing a child's face light up when they understand a concept or achieve a goal is incredibly rewarding. I’m driven by the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives, foster their curiosity, and help them develop the skills they need to succeed. Teaching allows me to inspire students, support their growth, and be a part of their educational journey, which is truly fulfilling.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences occurred during my first year as a 5th-grade teacher. While helping a student edit a narrative about her favorite summer memory, she said, "I know it's not good." I replied, "You're a wonderful writer, don’t give up." Years later, she messaged me, saying, "Your encouragement gave me confidence throughout school. I'm so grateful." That moment reminded me of the lasting impact words of support can have, and it still brings me to tears.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would enhance my school by expanding our clothing closet, purchasing organizational tools, and providing backpacks filled with school and hygiene essentials for every student. I’d also use part of the funds to create an outdoor classroom, which we’ve been wanting for a while. Additionally, I’d put money towards purchasing a new home for my family, as we are currently renting and need more space. Any remaining funds would be saved for my daughter’s future education.
