Seeing the lightbulb turn on for kids after they’ve worked so hard on a new skill. It reminds us that anything is possible with hard work!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, ever since I was little. My first year of teaching only affirmed that feeling, and I’ve loved every day of this career.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was during the COVID year. It was my first year teaching, and I had 16 6-year-olds who I taught virtually every day for months. Finally going back into the building once it was safe and meeting these students in person for the first time was the most incredible feeling. Teachers spend most of their lives with their students, and the bonds we make with them are very special. Being able to all be together in a room was a memory I will never forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use some of the money to get another degree to further my education. I’d also use some of the money to get more materials, resources, clothing, and more for my school and local schools in the area who are also Title 1 schools and could use some more support.
