Teaching is not just a career for me; it’s a calling. Growing up, my parents emphasized the transformative power of education, but I didn’t truly understand its impact until I became a teacher myself. Teaching has allowed me not only to share my knowledge and experiences but also to contribute to the growth of the next generation. Whether in general education, where I began, or in special education, where I am now, I remain committed to supporting my students in achieving their full potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable experience in my teaching journey came when I realized I had truly served my purpose and made a positive impact. It was rewarding to hear my students say they felt comfortable asking for help and safe making mistakes as they learned. This feedback inspired me to transition from a resource classroom to a self-contained classroom, where I could continue providing support and fostering a safe learning environment for students with higher needs.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I win $25,000, I would donate a printer for learning materials, as well as a sink and water dispenser to make my life skills classroom more functional for my students. I’d also love to take them on a field trip to enhance their learning experiences. Since I’ve already published a book about Autism, I’d use part of the funds to publish more children’s books to inspire more learners. Finally, I would invest in self-care to stay healthy and maintain my ability to serve my students effectively.
